8 things that actually happened after Donald Trump fired James Comey

During a Friday morning tweetstorm, the president appeared to imply that there are tapes of his private conversations with Comey, who Trump fired earlier this week.

"James Comey better hope there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" "There's nothing further to add on that", he said.

This could be viewed as an effort to intimidate Comey, a potential witness in an investigation into Trump and his campaign. "That's not a threat".

Giving more details about Trump's meetings with Comey, Spicer said Trump was seeking assurances from the FBI director that he wasn't under investigation because he wanted to fight back against "the narrative" building around the Russian Federation story.

According to Comey's account to associates, Trump was not satisfied with the Federal Bureau of Investigation director's answer and told him again later in the dinner that he needed Comey's loyalty, the Times reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a campaign of interference in the election, USA intelligence agencies concluded in January, aimed at tilting the vote in Trump's favor.

The White House said Mr Comey was sacked over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email affair, but Democrats have asked, if that is the case, why it took so long.

On Thursday, the New York Times published an account of a dinner, sourced to two Comey associates, that differed from the president's account.

Indeed, it is only by virtue of Falcinelli’s prowess in the final third that Crotone still remains in contention to survive. In Romelu Lukaku, Koeman has a player with the capability of firing Everton to far headier heights than seventh place.

On Friday, President Trump tweeted that Clapper said there was no evidence of collusion between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.

Trump released his own statement about Comey's firing: "You are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately", Trump wrote to Comey in a letter released by the White House.

Trump took to Twitter on Friday to blame his "active" presidency for any inaccuracies that his surrogates make at the podium. The investigation was gaining momentum as Mr. Trump struck.

"[James Comey] had a lot of pressure put on and he exonerated her", Trump said Friday in his interview with NBC Nightly News' Lester Holt.

Trump also attempted to defend his administration's struggle to come up with a consistent timeline and rationale for the abrupt firing of Comey this week, first saying it was in response to a recommendation by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, only to later say Trump had planned to fire Comey regardless.

He also specifically brought up the ongoing Russian Federation investigation. Maybe, Trump said, he will just cancel briefings with the media altogether.

He added: "It's an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won".

Trump fired Comey Tuesday after receiving a recommendation to do so by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, citing his handling of the Clinton email probe a year ago.
