Abdul Hasib, the head of the Islamic state who was killed on April 27 was declared dead by Afghan officials on Sunday.
"He was responsible for ordering the attack on the 400-bed hospital in Kabul, kidnapped girls and beheaded elders in front of their families", the President's office said.
The U.S. also noted the terrorist leader played a lead role in organizing a massive March attack on an Afghan army hospital, which killed dozens.
Earlier in the month, USA forces targeted an ISIS tunnel complex in the region when it dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used in a strike.
The raid also resulted in the deaths of several other high ranking ISIS-K leaders and 35 ISIS-K fighters, added the statement.
"This successful joint operation is another important step in our relentless campaign to defeat ISIS-K [Islamic State Khorasan, a local affiliate] in 2017", said John Nicholson, the commander of the USA forces in Afghanistan.
Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K), which has adopted the medieval name for a Central Asian region that includes Afghanistan, has been active since 2015.
The local affiliate of Daesh, sometimes known as Daesh Khorasan has been active since 2015, fighting both the Taliban as well as Afghan and United States forces.

At least 31 militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group's offshoot have been killed in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. A few thousand more are unlikely to make a difference.
The Taliban have been creeping back, including regaining ground in Sangin province where many British soldiers lost their lives.
The U.S. would then backfill those numbers to reach the levels senior commanders want. It's already listed among the world's most corrupt.
