According to CNN, President Trump will name Randolph "Tex" Alles as his new Secret Service director.

"Mr. Alles served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 35 years, retiring in 2011 as a Major General".

And there have also been persistent problems guarding the White House, with the most recent coming when a man scaled the fence and wandered the White House grounds for some 17 minutes before being apprehended.

The White House did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

The Secret Service faces an array of challenges. Most recently, its budget has been stretched this year as it watches over a president who travels between several residences, in addition to protecting his immediate family, who oversee a world wide business.

David Ortiz to address grads at Rhode Island tech university
Fans of the Red Sox will have to wait one more day before the renewal of the team's rivalry against the New York Yankees. Retired Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz will deliver the commencement address at a private Rhode Island university.

His positions of leadership within the Corps included command of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward) and of Al Asad Air Base in Iraq; commanding general of the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab and vice chief of Naval Research; and director for Strategic Planning and Policy at U.S. Pacific Command, among others.

Alles' expected appointment comes after a search that purposefully looked outside of the Secret Service ranks - and process that hasn't exactly been popular among former agents.

Alles is replacing Joseph Clancy, who retired from the agency a second time in March. Clancy returned to his retirement in March, allowing President Donald Trump the opportunity to fill the post as he sees fit. The recommendation came after Julia Pierson was forced to resign as director after multiple presidential security breaches were made public.

The Secret Service director is appointed by the President and does not require Senate confirmation.
