World number one Andy Murray reached the last 16 of the Barcelona Open without striking a ball on Wednesday after Bernard Tomic withdrew from the tournament due to a back injury.
The Scot returned to action last week in Monte Carlo after more than a month on the sidelines but, having beaten Gilles Muller in his opening match, lost to Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
The top-ranked Murray was originally going to skip the Barcelona Open but made a decision to play after being eliminated in the third round at the Monte Carlo Masters, when he blew a 4-0 lead in the deciding set to Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
