A dramatic rescue unfolded Wednesday morning after a woman became stuck on a construction crane in downtown Toronto.

Toronto Fire Services say it appears the woman was trespassing and climbed up the piece of machinery at a construction site on Wellesley St. near Yonge St. during the overnight hours.

The woman, dressed in a jean jacket and dark trousers, was able to stand on her own and speak with authorities moments after being lowered to the ground.

It was not immediately clear why the woman had gone up on the crane, or if she'll face any charges.

Chief Matthew Pegg snapped a photo of the rescue and reported on how proud he was of his crew in completing the rescue. A rescuer reached the woman at 8 a.m.

"We train for this ... although we've never quite seen one like this before", Pegg said.

Even a slight change to the corporate tax rate would have massive impacts for the economy and the federal budget deficit. Hatch called it a "preliminary" 30-minute meeting and participants described it as positive and productive.

Shaw said there was no immediate indication as to why the woman climbed atop the crane.

Pegg praised Wonfor and the ground crew for a "very technical, very complex rescue".

Wonfor said he didn't ask her for an explanation during the rescue because they needed to stay focused. "She talked to me to make sure I was safe".

"She had a little, thin coat on but you know what, she was a courageous girl". "She made me calm, actually". "Every time he goes up he has to hook on for safety", Toronto Fire Platoon Chief Kevin Shaw said during the rescue operation.

"I do a lot of rope work with trees and that plus I'm a bit of a monkey so they thought, you're the guy", Wonfor said. The woman was then placed in handcuffs by police and arrested for mischief.
