Former Delhi minister and BJP leader Arvind Singh Lovely was among those who could not cast their vote early in the morning due to glitches in the EVM at a polling booth in East Azad Nagar area.
The exit polls for the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD) have predicted the worst for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which came to power in the national capital in 2015 with a thumping majority. "What is the SEC doing?"
The Delhi State Election Commission has sent notices to two private news channels for airing opinion polls on the MCD elections held on Sunday.
In South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the exit poll put the tally at 83 of the total 104 seats.
State election commissioner SK Srivastava, however, dismissed such claims and said the performance spoke for the reliability of the machines.
AAP Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey told PTI that the MCD poll results could be "rigged" and the ground for it was being prepared by "floating" exit polls predicting a BJP sweep.
Union minister Vijay Goel exercised his franchise at a polling station near Raj Niwas.
North Korea's Hydrogen Bombs Are Ready To Attack America
Washington recently dispatched the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group to the region as a warning to Pyongyang. Officials say North Korea has detained a USA citizen, in the latest case of an American being held in the country.
Counting of votes will be held on Wednesday April 26. Congress leader Ajay Maken said the low turnout was an indication that Delhi's 10.2 million voters were "disenchanted with both Modi at the Centre and Kejriwal as Delhi chief minister".
'I reached the polling station at 8am. "Going by Congress' track record, they will vote for us", he said.
Voters in a few municipal wards also faced problems as Electronic Voting Machines at some polling booths did not work properly.
The election was postponed in two wards due to the death of candidates.
ABP News, too, has forecast a big victory for BJP, with AAP a distant second.
The AAP and the Congress will get 25 seats each, the exit poll said. The survey has given the BJP 52% of the total votes.
Responding to questions regarding Mr. Kejriwal's statement, Mr. Srivastava said: "We used more than 13,000 EVMs and had to change only 0.14%, which is normal as it happens in any election". "I will later go to exercise my franchise", said Lovely. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal then retweeted Poonawalla's tweet, in which he came up with an interesting version of what EVM stands for - 'Extremely Vulnerable Machines'. The city had recorded 55% turnout in the 2012 municipal polls. Two other smaller civic bodies are the Delhi Cantonment Board and the New Delhi Municipal Council.
