Nintendo has confirmed that its new transforming console sold and impressive 906,000 units in the United States in March.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The game sold over 1,3 million units during the month of March.
It's also worth noting that the Wii U launched in November, the most popular month for platform sales, while Switch came out during the relatively quiet early March.
It's great to see Nintendo is smashing barriers left and right, and this enormous influx of earnings will be re-invested into the company's operational cashflow to ensure more games, content, and experiences feed its new Switch platform. Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime also called Breath of the Wild the best standalone launch title in Nintendo history just after the system's USA launch. However, this could also be a fallout of questionable sales data or the fact that Switch had a prolonged shortage of retail units since launch.
Investigation says toxin killed the Vancouver aquarium's beluga whales
The debate over whether animals, like whales, should be kept in captivity continues with the Vancouver Park Board. The toxin was likely introduced by food water or human interference, the investigation found.
Even more impressive was the big launch of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Based on these figures, SuperData projects that Nintendo Switch will have 7.2 million units sold in 2017, which is considerably higher than original forecast (5 millions in 2017).
"That means that Nintendo sold more of this game [Breath of the Wild] for Nintendo Switch than it sold Nintendo Switch systems, for an attach rate of more than 100 percent", Nintendo said. The quality leap is great when compared to the Nintendo 3DS. Last month Xbox One was ahead of PS4 was October, when Gears of War 4 released worldwide.
This, unsurprisingly, makes it the fastest selling Zelda game in Nintendo's history, too. For instance, the company expects to launch the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game, which contains several new additions than any other Mario Kart game in the series history, on Switch by April 28.
