I want to get Serena's face tattooed on my back and her baby's ultrasound pic painted on my ceiling.

Her management told Reuters the American planned on returning to the tour next year - months after Williams turns 36 in September.

The 35-year-old posted a picture of herself on Snapchat posing in a mirror with the message: "20 weeks" before deleting the post.

The post was quickly deleted - yet captured before taken down. The first photo of a baby bump was uploaded by Serena on Snapchat.

CEO of the WTA Steve Simon also sent his congratulations to Williams.

It was hours before they could tweet: "It's official!"

Williams, who is engaged to the co-founder of community news and chat site Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, is top of the all-time list of major winners since Grand Slams accepted professional players in 1968.

In January this year, Williams won the Australian Open which earned her her 23rd Grand Slam single title, and it just so happens that she was two months into her pregnancy at the time.

"There's gonna be a baby GOAT".

"@Serenawilliams! You will be such an incredible mother and I wish you and your family health and happiness for the best journey in the world", wrote Kerber.

Serena Williams now holds the title for the most Grand Slam wins with 23 titles, the most for any player man or woman.

Only Australian Margaret Court has won more, capturing 24.

If she is to give birth later this summer then she will surely not be seen on a tennis court for the rest of the year.

In what is the biggest news bombshell in tennis in recent times, tennis great Serena Williams has hinted that she is pregnant.

Her inactivity saw her drop to second in the world rankings.

A pregnant Serena Williams makes the tennis superstar even more attractive to corporate sponsors, allowing her to extend her reach into maternity wear and motherhood products, sponsorship industry executives said.

Belgium's Kim Clijsters came out of retirement at the age of 26 after having a child and won three Grand Slam titles.
