F1: Dominant Vettel wins Bahrain GP

There is strong mutual respect between three-time F1 champion Hamilton and four-time champion Vettel, and the British driver gave him a warm handshake after the race. Exclusively my fault. Then you get the time lost in the pit lane.

Bottas not only lost out to race victor Sebastian Vettel but also Lewis Hamilton and was twice asked to move over for his Mercedes team-mate who showed superior pace.

"Apologies to the team, but we still got good points for the team and still had a great fight".

Hamilton's new Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas finished third, after starting from his maiden pole position, ahead of compatriot Kimi Raikkonen in the second Ferrari and fifth-placed Australian Daniel Ricciardo.

Turvey returned to the track for the concluding hour and completed a further 15 laps, but he was almost four seconds adrift of Hamilton's best lap and slowest of all the 12 times set. Vettel went for the pit-stop early in the race in the 10th lap and had 24.702 seconds (3.1 sec pit-stop) in the pit area.

"It's frustrating to have had an issue this morning which cost us a lot of track time", Turvey said having waited all day to get back behind the wheel.

George HW Bush Treated At Houston Hospital For Pneumonia
Bush, who served as president from 1989 to 1993, had spent 16 days in the hospital for treatment of pneumonia in January. Bush was admitted to a hospital in Houston for pneumonia but the 92-year-old is reportedly in ‶good spirits".

In Bahrain, Valtteri Bottas was asked to move over and let Hamilton past not just once but twice during the course of the race, as their different strategies played out.

Heading into this race, Vettel and Hamilton were level with a win each, but the latter's second victory of the season and 44th of his career puts him in command. "Lewis was a threat towards the end and, with the traffic, you never know", said Vettel, who also won the season-opener in Australia. "I apologise to the team for losing that time there..."

Valtteri Bottas says despite Mercedes holding an advantage in qualifying trim he feels Ferrari now have the stronger race pace, but has warned it could all change next time out in Russian Federation.

"I think it's going to be one of the closest ones (championships), if not the closest I've personally ever experienced and I'm looking forward to this fight, not only with Sebastian but the other guys as well who are still gonna be in amongst it".

"The second stint was better but I was still struggling with over-steer and then I couldn't get the rear-end to work in the last stint".

While Vettel was on song from the beginning, passing Hamilton into the opening turn as the Brit bogged down on the start it was a case of the German's team making the call to pit early that gave him the lead. "I know that gap can not come from driving, so I'm sure we'll find some reason for why I struggled more than Lewis".
