Lewis Hamilton said he is revelling in the fight with Sebastian Vettel for the Formula One world championship after he beat the Ferrari driver into second place at the Chinese Grand Prix.

The safety vehicle was called again after Antonio Giovinazzi smashed his Sauber into a wall. "He (Vettel) was closing the gap but I managed to stay ahead".

It is already looking like a straight shoot-out between Formula One's two most decorated current competitors as the Mercedes man looks to equal Vettel's four drivers's titles.

"I saw one of his passing moves where he went down the outside and passed about three cars and it was obvious that he meant business". "But then there were other times in the race where I was quicker".

"I hope they're feeling the spirit", triple champion Hamilton said after Sunday's race, referring to his team.

Hamilton delivered an emphatic response following his defeat to Vettel at the season-opening race in Australia to lead every lap on Sunday and claim his first victory of the new campaign.

Hamilton knew things could have been very different had it not been for Giovinazzi's smash.

Trump at Easter Egg Roll: 'We're right on track'
He was accompanied by somebody dressed up in an Easter bunny costume. "So thank you, everybody, for being here", Trump said . With Ms Trump permanently residing in NY , the White House did not announce the event would even take place until March.

Vettel believed the timing of the safety vehicle, moments after the race had restarted following the virtual safety auto period during which he had made his early stop, was "unfortunate" for his hopes, and Hamilton agreed.

Ricciardo took fourth behind Verstappen after an furious late scrap between the two Red Bulls, with Raikkonen finishing fifth ahead of fellow Finn Valtteri Bottas's Mercedes. "I've been in the sport long enough and it's not very often that it's all smiling and happy".

Ferrari have looked competitive since pre-season testing and there was very little to choose between Germany's Vettel and Hamilton in terms of pace and performance throughout the Shanghai weekend.

"Obviously, we were a little unfortunate with the safety vehicle early on", Vettel said.

He added: "Honestly, I hope that Red Bull can improve through the season because I think a third element in the fight I think would be even more exciting". So for us it is really good news we had another race where we were really close and were able to put some pressure on.

Both Force Indias made the points, with Mexican Sergio Perez in ninth and Mercedes-backed Esteban Ocon rounding out the top ten.

Pit stops ahead of the Dutchman, and a spin by Valtteri Bottas, promoted him to fourth when the safety auto pitted six laps later.
