Officers and staff from around the county held a two minute silence for PC Palmer whose funeral took place earlier today.
Their message said: "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this hard time".

Officers and staff also gathered outside the North Wales Police Headquarters to take part in the two minute silence.

PC Palmer's name has been added to the National Police Memorial, which records the names of officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Essex Police's Chief Constable, Stephen Kavanagh, new deputy chief constable BJ Harrington and around 20 officers from across the ranks in the force will represent Essex Police at the funeral.

Palmer had not hesitated to act when confronted by a terrorist, she said.

PC Palmer's body was taken from a chapel in Westminster, where he laid in rest overnight after the Queen gave special permission, to Southwark Cathedral for his funeral.

Members of the Thurrock Community Police Team (TCPT) lined the route near the location of the funeral at Shoreditch.

Members of the public outside were able to watch proceedings on screens outside.

Rows of officers in dress uniform, many displaying service medals, lined up on nearby streets as on-duty colleagues stood guard during the massive security operation.

A hushed silence interrupted the swell of by-standers lining the procession's route as it passed, while tourists and locals leant over barricades on one of London's busiest arteries between the City of London and Southwark.

Police Chief Inspector Neil Sawyer said in his eulogy that the entire force is proud of Palmer.

Hymns including I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say were followed by a rendition of The Last Post by a bugler from the Honourable Artillery Company.

During the funeral procession Monday, it was covered with a floral tribute that read: "Number 1 Daddy".
