The compromise was reached days after the NCAA said the state was down to its final days to get something done about the law.
Penn State also was awarded several NCAA championship events: The women's Frozen Four in 2022; the men's hockey regional in Allentown in 2018 and '19; the national fencing championships in 2018 and '21; the women's gymnastics regional in 2018 and '20; and the men's and women's cross country regional in 2018 and '20.
The first- and second-round men's basketball games in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2020 will mark the first time since 2012 that tournament games will have been played in that venue.
The NCAA will return events to North Carolina after selecting two sites in the state for championship games in the coming five years.
The Mid-American Conference and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will run the tournament in Cleveland.

Selected to host regionals in 2019 are Albany, New York (Times Union Center), Chicago (Wintrust Arena), Greensboro, North Carolina (Greensboro Coliseum) and Portland, Oregon (Moda Center), with play taking place March 29-April 1.
Creighton will host the first and second rounds of the Division I men's basketball tournament March 19-22, 2020. Pat McCrory signed into law last spring.
House Bill 2 had restricted the ability of municipalities to enact anti-discrimination policies and required transgender people in government and public buildings to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate. A Minneapolis men's basketball regional will be held in 2021.
