Dortmund played the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday, after it was postponed from Tuesday, when three explosions rocked the team bus minutes before kick-off and left Spain global Marc Bartra with a broken wrist.
Dortmund's current coach, Thomas Tuchel, said late yesterday his team had felt ignored by Uefa over the decision to reschedule the match so quickly.
But Bartra was keen to look at the bigger picture, beyond football, in his impassioned post on Friday, adding: 'The only thing I ask, THE ONLY, is that we all live in peace, and we leave behind wars.
"We were not attacked on the field by an opponent; we were attacked from inside the bus as men", Tuchel said in a post-match broadcast interview with former Norway worldwide Jan Aage Fjortoft.
We would have wanted to have more time to digest all of this.
"It gave us a powerless feeling, like we had a job to do and nothing else mattered". I know we earn a lot of money, have a privileged life, but we are human beings and there is so much more than football in this world and last night we felt it.
Speaking at at a press conference ahead of Liverpool's Premier League meeting with West Brom this weekend, the former Dortmund boss said that hearing the news was "difficult" for him.
Korea's Park indicted and will face trial
Two Park supporters where killed in clashes with police outside the court on the day her impeachment ruling was announced. The scandal prompted millions to take to the street for weeks calling for the ousting of the conservative president.
"It is hard to speak about but only because in the world a lot of really difficult-to-understand things happen at this moment and as smart human beings we all think about this", he added. "All decisions were made in full agreement with the two clubs".
"They (Uefa) have to understand that we are not animals. The game is over now and it feels a bit weird".
UEFA says the rescheduling was decided at a meeting with both clubs and local authorities. We did not get this time.
Before Tuchel made the comments, UEFA competitions director Giorgio Marchetti had told BBC: "The schedule of these clubs is completely full and the next round of the Champions League will take place in early May". We only talked football at half-time.
One of the explosions hit the team bus, with defender Marc Bartra needing emergency care at the scene before having surgery later that evening on a broken bone in his wrist and to remove debris from his hand.
Dortmund were understandably subdued in the first half and despite improving after the break they suffered a 3-2 first-leg loss - their first home defeat in 21 matches.
Before kickoff, his teammates honoured Bartra by wearing yellow T-shirts bearing his image and the message in Spanish: "A lot of strength - we are with you".
