Wesley Bryan takes RBC Heritage in South Carolina homecoming

Ollie Schniederjans settled for a 3-under-par 32-36=68 during round two of the RBC Heritage, arriving at the midpoint on 6-under 136, just four strokes off the pacesetters Luke Donald and Graham DeLaet. He is now 10-under overall and tied for first place.

Donald leaned heavily on his short game as he lost control off the tee, hitting just seven fairways yet grabbing a share of the lead in his quest to take the next step after four runner-up finishes here.

Five-time RBC Heritage victor Davis Love III missed the cut by two shots, finishing at 1-over par that included a costly double-bogey on the par-3 No. 7.

Bryan, a SC native who played college golf for the Gamecocks, was four shots behind entering the day and moved into contention with four consecutive birdies on the front nine.

The Frenchman made four birdies and an eagle at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam for his second straight 3-under 70, opening a one-shot lead over Lucas Bjerregaard and Trevor Fisher Jr. Poulter tried to set up, but the gator would not relent until the caddie of playing partner Simpson charged the reptile.

Since returning from a foot injury in October Poulter has made eight starts on the United States tour, making five cuts.

Miguel Angel Jimenez (68) and Marco Dawson (68) were 7 under.

Among those another shot back were second-ranked So Yeon Ryu (69), coming off a victory in the major ANA Inspiration, and Olympic champion Inbee Park. Kerr had a 62 to tie Lizette Salas' tournament record. In his first six RBC Heritage appearances, DeLaet's best finish was 14th past year. "I proved that the last couple of holes". Ames had five birdies and a bogey at TPC Sugarloaf to reach 9-under 135.

England's Ian Poulter, Ireland's Shane Lowry, New Zealand's Danny Lee and American Russell Henley were among a group of six golfers who were three shots off the lead at the picturesque Harbour Town course on Hilton Head Island.
