The Southborough man's parents said "Michael was claimed by the Charles River the night of his disappearance".
Kelleher most recently resided in Southborough, Mass.
Kelleher, a waiter at the Margaritas Mexican Restaurant in Northborough, was last seen leaving TD Garden after a Celtics game on March 29.
Lori Kelleher had posted on her Facebook page, "Help Find Michael Kelleher", that her son's last known location had been Paul Revere Park, where he attempted to order an Uber ride. "Michael was loved by many and we want to thank everyone who reached out to us during this hard time".
According to family members, Kelleher was intoxicated at this time. At 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., his cell phone was pinged on Tremont Street, about a mile away.
Investigators later uncovered that Kelleher requested an Uber, a transportation network company, but he never made it to the vehicle.

That led to the Friday meeting , which was coordinated by Chief of Staff Reince Priebus . Colbert said he "wasn't surprised" because there was "known friction" between the two.
The body was recovered by the state police marine unit after a passerby spotted it yesterday at the eastern end of the Charles River locks.
The medical examiner is investigating the exact cause of death.

Before Sunday, state troopers had recently searched near the Zakim Bridge for Kelleher, but were unable to locate him.
