Sergio Garcia says he can achieve more success after breaking his major drought with a win at the US Masters.

Garcia became just the third Spaniard to win the Masters after Jose Maria Olazabal and Seve Ballesteros, who would have celebrated his 60th birthday on the eve of Garcia's win.

"I don't know if it hasn't sunk in or something but it doesn't feel that different", he said.

His 12-foot birdie putt at the first extra hole dropped into the cup at the par-four 18th, triggering a huge cheer from an Augusta National gallery that began chanting his name after willing him across the line.

Garcia had played 70 majors as a professional, the longest wait ever before winning a Grand Slam event.

Having already been on tour for about 18 years, he told reporters that, while he wasn't getting any younger, he still had "so much room for improvement".

It will mark Garcia's first PGA Tour start as a major victor, but it'll also be a return to one of his favorite venues where he won in 2008 and lost in a playoff in 2015.

Anti-Trump sentiment, ad blitz motivate Georgia voters
Frustrated by what happened in November, she said Ossoff was the first political candidate she'd ever donated to. At a Republican get-out-the-vote rally in Marietta, Republicans tried to unite behind a "Stop Ossoff" movement.

"Everybody that is around me is helping me, making me not only a better golfer but a better person", Garcia said.

Garcia frittered away a chance to win in regulation when his downhill five-footer dribbled away to the right and did not even threaten the cup, moments after Rose had also misread his seven-footer.

Deadlocked after nine holes, the two friends and rivals produced an enthralling back nine showdown worthy of any Masters champion in what became a head-to-head battle.

"If there's anyone to lose to, it's Sergio".

Both Garcia and Rose were nine-under-par after 72 holes, three shots clear of nearest challenger Charl Schwartzel.

"I wish he could have been there with me", he said.
