EDMONTON, Alberta The Sharks were handed one power play opportunity after another Friday night as the Edmonton Oilers repeatedly put themselves down a man with a handful of reckless plays. NOTES: For Game 1, the Oilers sold concourse passes for $80 (Canadian) each, which admitted a limited number of fans to the arena, but without views of the ice. Milan Lucic, who got an assist on the Klefbom goal, then snapped a wrist shot past Jones at 17:07.
"We did a good job starting the game but we've got to finish", McDavid said. "I think when you talk about experience, I think that's where experience kind of comes in".
"We got the chance and I snuck it in", said Karlsson. "This isn't going to be a short series".
Oilers: Cam Talbot has two post-season games to his credit, both coming with the New York Rangers.
"You don't get many shots from your the neutral zone or your end, so it's as simple as that", McLellan said.
"I like playing on the kill, especially in these games when we keep taking a lot (of penalties)". He has 15 points and 19 penalty minutes in 19 career games against the Sharks.
Though the Oilers didn't capture that first victory, they can surely take away enough to come back and win Game 2. He swiped at the puck with this stick, giving it to Oilers Mark Letestu.
It was a pretty drastic turnaround for the Sharks, who had won just once in 25 games all season when trailing after two periods.
The Penguins built a 3-0 lead in the second period with goals from Bryan Rust, Phil Kessel and Nick Bonino.
The city of Edmonton - not to mention some surprised Sharks - got a taste of winter in April on Friday as snowfall began in the early morning and continued well into the afternoon.
Blues Defying Critics, Three up on Wild
The last 10 meetings between these two teams have produced at leas three goals and the over is 33-16-3 in Minnesota's 52 games. The Wild finished the regular season ninth in the National Hockey League with a 21.0 percent success rate on the power play.
McDavid's blazing speed made this goal possible.
Frank Vatrano added a goal for Boston in his National Hockey League playoff game, and Tuukka Rask made 26 saves. As of Wednesday morning, the most low-priced tickets for Game 1 on resale site, StubHub, were going for $245 USA each.
The Sharks and Edmonton were teams headed in opposite directions heading into the playoffs. "Marcus was really good, hunting down pucks, creating turnovers and back pressuring real well".
"From the second period on, we had control of that game".
The Sharks were unable to take advantage, continuing a season-long power malaise.
"Last year I made every single playoff game, every home game except the final game so I blame myself for not winning the cup", said Maria Habiger of Campbell.
When asked by reporters if he'll be ready to play Wednesday, Couture answered with a curt, "I don't know". - The Sharks can't get discouraged if things don't go as planned in Edmonton. "They had the puck all night".
There's also the fact that San Jose is seriously banged up right now, with key players such as Joe Thornton and Logan Couture on the mend.
Veteran Joe Thornton missed the last week of the season with a knee issue, and after Tuesday's practice said he feels confident, but he is still listed as day-to-day.
