Blue Jackets-Maple Leafs Preview

Sidney Crosby will play against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but other regulars of the Pittsburgh Penguins will rest.

James van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Kasperi Kapanen and Auston Matthews also scored for the Leafs and Curtis McElhinney stepped in for an injured Frederik Andersen with 12 saves.

Toronto will play the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs if the Maple Leafs pick up at least a point in their season finale against Columbus on Sunday.

Toronto Maple Leafs' Zach Hyman, right, holds off Columbus Blue Jackets' Nick Foligno, centre, as Maple Leafs' William Nylander looks on during first period NHL hockey action in Toronto, on Sunday April 9, 2017. In fact, five total Canadian teams will be in the postseason this year - a huge step up from icing none last season.

- The NHL is expected to announce the first-round schedule once all games are completed Sunday night.

After Phil Kessel scored the 1-0 goal in the first period, "the kid traded for Kessel" - Kasperi Kapanen - answered with the 3-3 tally in the third, his first career National Hockey League goal (and what a pass by Matt Hunwick!).

It's not just the first-year Leafs who lack much experience in these kind of outings.

It's Cup or bust for the Caps this year, expectations nearly entirely at odds with the young Leafs, who are simply trying to soak up playoff experience for future Cup runs. Coach Mike Sullivan ruled both out for Saturday, but they've taken contact and seem poised to return as soon as Sunday against the New York Rangers.

The roster has been turned over nearly entirely too with the club also sporting a new logo and uniforms this season.

Korea unveils new ICBM at military parade
One of Kim's top officials, Choe Ryong Hae, today vowed North Korea would "beat down enemies with the power of nuclear justice". If he really wanted to strike the United States with a nuclear weapon, there are better ways of doing so.

Then at 14:11, Point unleashed a heavy wrist shot from the slot that beat Andersen top-shelf for his second goal of the game and 16th of the season late in the third period. Toronto built a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but the Blue Jackets stormed back and ripped off three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead. He then danced around Penguins defenceman Justin Schultz and beat Fleury for his 27th goal this year. Matthews' left knee connected with the right knee of Dotchin, and the 19-year-old Maple Leafs star remained down on the ice for a few moments.

Toronto boy Connor Brown, scorer of the game-winning goal, celebrated with a Mike Foligno-style dance as the roof lifted off the ACC. Clutching his head, Andersen stayed down on the ice in obvious discomfort and after undergoing consultation with a team trainer, left the ice.

Two weeks ago in Buffalo, Andersen was forced to the leave a game against the Sabres with an upper-body injury.

Sestito drew a penalty for goalie interference on the play, Bozak proceeding to put the Leafs ahead with the power play.

Fourteen Capitals have more than 20 points including T.J. Oshie and Ovechkin, who both scored 33 goals this season.

"He scores goals different ways and I think that's probably a big reason why he's been so consistent is he's got a great shot, but he can also score from in close and goes to the net hard, too", Crosby said. Joonas Korpisalo stopped 30-of-32 shots to earn the win for the Jackets, who are set for a first-round matchup against Pittsburgh. I hate to sound negative, but I think everyone, including the Leafs, would have preferred to play the Senators and attempt to go through the Atlantic side of the bracket.

Kasperi Kapanen scored his first career National Hockey League goal at 14:30 of the third when he was left uncovered at the right side of the net.

Brown got the victor when he tipped a Jake Gardiner shot past Marc-Andre Fleury, with Nazem Kadri screening the goalie.
