Ronaldo became the first player to reach 100 goals in UEFA competitions in Madrid's 2-1 Champions League quarter-final first-leg win away to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Spanish side Atlético Madrid edged out English Premier League champions Leicester City 1-0, while Monaco also beat Borussia Dortmund by the odd goal, following the French side's 3-2 victory in their rescheduled encounter. "We probably could have scored one or two more goals, but we're very happy", the Real coach said at a press conference.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus player felt that his side should have scored more in a game that saw Carlo Ancelotti's men play with ten for around half an hour as Javi Martinez was sent-off for a second bookable offence.

"I want to congratulate the team for the second-half performance", said Ronaldo. "To be able to reach this mark is an honour and against a team like Bayern it is better still", the Portugal skipper told BeIN Sport Spain.

Arturo Vidal headed Bayern into the lead, but then skied a penalty attempt on the stroke of half-time.

The four-time world player of the year then slotted in the victor between goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's legs 13 minutes from time.

Lavrov repeated the Kremlin's condemnation of the USA missile strike in Syria and said Washington was seeking "excuses for regime change".

Speaking ahead of Madrid's LaLiga match away to Sporting Gijon on Saturday - where Zidane's men will look to move six points clear of Barcelona ahead of their rivals' home match with Real Sociedad - the head coach praised his star man.

"You will see how we are going to play but he is in the squad, happy and training well without any problems".

With chances few and far between, Griezmann made the difference as it was he who also won the penalty with a lung-busting run from deep before being brought down by Marc Albrighton midway through the first half.

It could have been a higher score and Real captain Sergio Ramos had the ball in the net late on, but the goal was disallowed. "He doesn't feel so good, we hope it's nothing major", he said.

"The medical department did a geat job trying to get him fit, but the risk was too great", Rummenigge said after the defeat. We had to dig in during the first half, but we showed that we knew how to set ourselves up on the pitch. Two minutes after the break, Ronaldo delivered a right-footed shot from the center of the box to level the match off a solid cross from Daniel Carvajal.

"We played 11 against 10 for the last 30 minutes and had a lot of possession which changed the match and the result".
