However, on Twitter Thursday morning this week, Musk officially said that Tesla's speculated electric semi-truck is all set to be unveiled this September and that the developing team has done an incredible job.
In answer to a follow-up question on Twitter, Musk revealed the previously-announced Tesla pick-up truck will be unveiled within two years.
Tesla also had an update on its much anticipated Model 3 vehicle, which the company previously said would arrive in the middle of 2018 at the earliest.
The group said the market's "hostile reaction" to the SolarCity deal was induced, in part, because investment manager Donald Kendall was the only person on the solar company's board without deep-rooted ties to Musk. That plans appears to have been pushed back a bit, and will undoubtedly be met with huge expectations.
The suggestion comes after Tesla surpassed Ford in market value last week. Musk also said the final unveiling of its Model 3, its most affordable vehicle, will happen in July.
YouTube's streaming TV service is finally live
One big plus: YouTube's unlimited DVR will store recordings for nine months, long enough for entire seasons of network shows. All early indications are that YouTube TV is just another great option for people who are exhausted of paying for cable.
He also teased that it will be "seriously next level" and briefly discussed the upcoming Tesla pickup truck and next-gen Roadster... "Their governance is incredible". At present, five of Musk's six board members have close business and personal relationships with the company's chief executive. The California-based company is now valued as high as Ford and General Motors, making it one of the most valuable automakers in the US. "A thoroughly independent board would provide a critical check on possible dysfunctional group dynamics such as group think", the investors wrote in a letter to Tesla director Antonio Gracias on Monday.
For investors and consumers, it's the latest reason to be excited about Tesla. Shares of Tesla are extended from a 287.49 buy point cleared on April 3.
The Roadster was the first auto Tesla produced, from 2008 to 2012.
Wednesday trading had Tesla's stock price at $305.40USD. There's little reason to believe it won't also feature all of Tesla's autonomous driving technologies.
