The MVP contender became the first player in National Basketball Association history to finish the regular season with at least 2,000 points (2,356), 900 assists (907) and 600 rebounds (659).

Oladipo's 3-pointer with 2:40 to go gave the Thunder a 97-93 lead, but Minnesota responded with five straight points, including Gorgui Dieng's corner jumper to go up 98-97 with 44 seconds to play. Paul later emphasized his upbeat mood on the subject, telling reporters that "We had a great day with the president". Paul said he talked about his plan "quite a bit" at the golf course, but so far the White House isn't biting.

The Timberwolves were led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who racked up 28 points and 21 rebounds, Andrew Wiggins, who finished with 21 points, and Shabazz Muhammed, who had 22. "We don't get fooled into thinking that it's something that it's not". Dieng had 16 points, 13 rebounds and four steals, Rubio had 14 points and 11 assists, Muhammad had 11 points and three rebounds and Nemanja Bjelica had 10 points off the bench. Trevor Ariza added 15 points. "He not only brought out the best out of himself but he brought the best out of the team". But after a break-neck year in which he broke Oscar Robertson's record for most triple-doubles in a season and helped the Thunder turn the page after Kevin Durant left for Golden State, the most relentless player in the league finally took a night off.

In that game, Towns had 37 points and 22 rebounds and Wiggins had 30 points and three steals to lead the way for the Wolves.

The third seeded Houston Rockets will host the sixth seeded Oklahoma City Thunder for game one of their best-of-seven opening round series on Sunday with an 8:00 pm tipoff on TNT.
