During her signing ceremony on April 12, she became the first woman ever to receive a scholarship to play college football at the Division II level or higher, according to ESPN.

Long has officially signed her letter of intent to play at Division II Adams State, which is located in Colorado, while the up-and-coming place kicker is also slated to play basketball at the school.

Longo, who converted 35 of 38 (92 percent!) extra-point attempts during the 2016 spring season, is not the first woman to play college football - it's a short list - but she the first to win an NCAA scholarship for the sport.

Todd's brother, Everett Todd, who is now the defensive coordinator at Grambling State, was an assistant coach at New Mexico in 2002 when Katie Hnida, a kicker for the Lobos, became the first woman to appear in a Division I college football game.

Adams State is led by former Cardinals quarterback Timm Rosenbach, who is the head coach. "I didn't know that until today", Becca said after he football coach, Gerald Todd, told her about this historic fact.

Adams State, which play in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, open their 2017 season on 2 September against South Dakota's Black Hills State University.

"I don't look at it that way". She'll be a kicker on the football team and also play basketball there. My wife is a former pro athlete.

"I contacted them during the season, and after the season I got contacted back by them", she told the AZ Central. With the Grizzlies, Longo will have to compete for the starting job with fellow incoming freshman Tiago Paim and returning sophomore Eduardo Majalca. "I don't really have any expectations beyond that".

"In Division II we can see their workouts".
