But Trump has entrusted Kushner, 36 - who is married to his daughter Ivanka - with, among other duties, the role of peace envoy to the Middle East.
Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, is now in Iraq, two White House officials confirmed Sunday evening.
Kusher, 36, who is Trump's son- in-law, was invited by Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, "on behalf of the president to express the president's support and commitment to the government of Iraq and USA personnel", Capt. Greg Hicks, Dunford's spokesman, announced.

Although Kushner is tasked primarily with bringing about middle-east peace, his expanding portfolio - both domestic and global - is drawing attention of foreign governments looking for White House access. Officials said Tillerson intervened last month to delay a White House meeting with top Saudi officials over a plan to combat ISIS because he felt there was not enough planning for it.
Some suggest this is a sign of Kushner's growing influence in the White House. He said he'd invited Kushner weeks ago.

On Thursday and Friday, he'll meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago for a 25 hour-long summit that Kushner has been shaping. But given that the White House is now is debating a Defense Department review of the way in the war against ISIS is waged, the move seems prudent.
"We thought discussing our nation's founding values and freedom for Americans of all faiths was the responsible thing to do before Mr. Trump came to power", Muslim Advocates Executive Director Farhana Khera, who was in the meeting, told BuzzFeed.
