Thomas Bryant declares for NBA Draft

Several players from the Hoosiers and Boilermakers are obtaining information about their pro prospects.

James Blackmon Jr.is also expected to officially declare for the draft, but it is not believed he plans to sign an agent. Just don't close the book on their IU careers.

The Hoosiers' star is leaving for the National Basketball Association.

According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, the sophomore forward will forego his final two seasons of eligibility and declare for the NBA Draft.

"These four young men all have unique talents and we support them in their decisions", said new IU Coach Archie Miller.

Despite suffering a season-ending ACL tear in January that could keep him sidelined for the start of National Basketball Association training camps in the fall, Anunoby decided it was best to take his talents to the pro ranks rather than remain with an in program that brought in Archie Miller to replace fired head coach Tom Crean. "As the semester winds down, we will continue to help them in any way with our priority being they continue their commitment to their academics and all eventually become Indiana University graduates".

Since Bryant has reportedly chosen not to hire an agent, he has until May 23 to withdraw his name from consideration and return to school.

Bryant surprised by declining to declare previous year, despite the belief in some circles that he could perform well enough during workouts to position himself for first-round consideration.

Blackmon earned third-team All-Big Ten honors this past season, when he averaged 17.0 points and 4.8 rebounds.

Bryant would have been a first-round pick in the 2016 draft but said he never seriously considered leaving after his freshman season. His season ended moments before halftime of IU's January 18 win at Penn State when he collapsed to the court with a knee injury.

Johnson's draft stock is murkier, though again, there is no penalty for entering the draft, collecting feedback and returning to college.

Johnson is the most experienced Hoosiers having made 87 career starts.

Blackmon averaged 15.7 points per game as one of the Big Ten's best freshman in 2014-15 before missing all but 13 games of the 2015-16 campaign with a season-ending injury. "This is an important process, and I am excited to take part in it". "Every player in college has the goal to compete at the highest level, and I'm looking forward to what the future may hold".

Bryant and Johnson played in all 34 games, but Anunoby and Blackmon were the two biggest casualties in an injury-influenced season for the Hoosiers.
