The club realised that Patrick Bamford might have questions to answer over his part in Anwar El Ghazi's red card on Sunday and the striker, who has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to a charge of deceiving referee Stuart Attwell, is unlikely to contest an automatic two-match ban.
El Ghazi was shown a straight red card and once peace was restored, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa ordered his players to let Villa score an equaliser.
Fast forward to Sunday and, in something of a Damascene conversion, Bielsa was ordering his Leeds players to let opponents Aston Villa score an equalizing goal.
El Ghazi was initially automatically given a three-game suspension which would have seen him miss Villa's last league game at home to already promoted Norwich and the two legs of their play-off semi-final.
An FA statement said: "It is alleged the Leeds United player's behaviour in the 72nd minute of the fixture, which involved committing a clear act of simulation that led to Anwar El Ghazi being dismissed, amounts to improper conduct".

The Duke of Sussex is to make a two-day visit to Holland next week, it has been announced, as his first baby is due any day now. The broadcaster is also said to have formed a friendship with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland.
"Patrick Bamford has subsequently been charged with 'successful deception of a match official'". Both clubs have until 18:00 on Friday [03/05/2019] to provide a response'.
On Tuesday, the FA ruled that Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane will receive no punishment for his role in the scrap between Leeds United and Aston Villa during their uncanny 1-1 draw over the weekend.
Bielsa's men held the upper hand for the majority of the game and scored in controversial circumstances in the second half, when they refused to kick the ball out of play after Jonathan Kodjia went down injured.
It was always going to be the case, but is definite now that Leeds United will have to go through the play-offs if they are to achieve the promotion they have worked so hard for this season.
Bielsa will want his team to go into the play-offs with a confidence boosting display against relegated Ipswich and is likely to pick his strongest possible side.
