The second episode ends with Tyrion on the wall at Winterfell looking at the hordes of White Walkers that are approaching the castle. But we've only seen him do it with the recently deceased.
Rodgers isn't bad with "Game of Thrones" predictions: In 2017, he correctly predicted Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen were related in an interview about the show with The Ringer.
The basic argument here is that the Night King is not stupid.
The Battle of Winterfell has been teased for a long time now in the build-up to Season 8.

The arrival of the White Walkers to Winterfell wasn't the only cliffhanger this week's episode of Game of Thrones left us with.
And there is no one more ready for war than Sansa Stark.
Trying to figure who's going to die in Game of Thrones is arguably a morbid pop culture gesture on par with guessing who bites the dust in Avengers: Endgame. Our heroes didn't seem to take the reality of an undead dragon as being one they specifically needed to deal with going into this battle, which feels like a mistake, so some of that fear could be in regards to that. All of which is to say, does the army of the dead even need the Night King? Maybe this is a way to show the presence of Night King. While they are fighting, the Night King will be turning the population of King's Landing into wights. They don't have a way of killing the Night King, and even if they did, they may not know that the trick to stopping the army of the dead is to kill its general. However, fans were quick to notice that the Night King was absent from the promo and now fans are contemplating that he has very gruesome plans in his head and that is why he won't be present in the next great battle. If Night King chooses to fight at the Winterfell, then he will have to face Drogon and Rhaegal. Rather than hitting Winterfell with all the might of his army, undead dragon included, he'll steer Viserion to a different objective, one that you might not necessarily expect: King's Landing.
