Michelle Obama's ‘Becoming' may be best-selling memoir ever

Her memoir Becoming, which recounts her childhood in Chicago, life in the White House and motherhood, could become the highest-selling memoir in history, according to her publisher.

The memoir sold more than two million units in all formats and editions in the USA and Canada during the first 15 days of its publication on November 13, 2018, the publisher Penguin Random House had said.

"I'm not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir", said Markus Dohle, Penguin Random House's chief executive. It sold two million copies in that time span to become the bestselling book of 2018.

Barack Obama has also signed with Penguin Random House to publish his White House memoir.

According to Nielsen BookScan, which tracks book sales in the UK, "Becoming" has sold over 600,000 copies in the UK and is now ranked 11th on its list of top 20 bestselling biographies and memoirs since sales records began in 1998.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama's memoir Becoming continues to smash records.

According to Neilsen, Becoming is now the 11th best selling autobiography since 1998 in the United Kingdom, behind books by Dawn French, Peter Kay, and her own husband Barack Obama.

The title has only been released in English, Spanish and German versions to date.
