CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie has stepped in a directed the Montreal Alouettes to release quarterback Johnny Manziel. The league also informed the eight other teams that it wouldn't register a contract for Manziel if any tried to sign him.

Alouettes GM Kavis Reed said the team is "disappointed" and referenced "a great deal of support" from the Alouettes, but couldn't come to an agreement on a very vague situation.

Johnny Manziel started eight games for the Alouettes in 2018 passing for 1,290 yards on 106 of 165 passing with five TDs and seven INTs.

The former No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft spent two seasons with the Browns before being released.

Manziel played backup behind Jeremiah Masoli for Hamilton before being traded to Montreal in July. The league also effectively banned Manziel from playing in The CFL after telling teams that officials would not approve any contract given to The Quarterback.

Johnny Manziel's time in the Canadian Football League is fini.

That was in response to a query about why Pakistan did not just arrest Azhar in the face of current India-Pakistan tensions. The agency said all domestic and worldwide flights would be allowed to and from Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.

The team has not specifically said what part of the contract Manziel violated. "With his great mobility, his athletic abilities and his instinct we believe that he will have a positive impact on our offence". Terms of those conditions were not released, and it appears, for now, that all of that will be kept under wraps.

The quarterback posted on social media that he looks forward "to exploring new options".

A Manziel representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the CFL's decision. "The conditions we set, we thought were the right ones". The league did vote to reinstate the window a year ago, but with conditions which Manziel did not meet.

Manziel received permission to sign with the Tiger-Cats in December 2017 after extensive discussions with the league. And we think it's best for our league that he does the same.

"He said coach, I'm gonna keep swinging the bat and see what happens", Spurrier said.

Fortunately for Manziel, the Alliance of American Football want his services and have been in contact with Manziel's camp over the past 24 hours, AAF chairman Tom Dundon told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. Sure, Manziel isn't a star on the field, but he's more of a household name than Garrett Gilbert and Logan Woodside.
