Senator Dianne Feinstein Verbally Spars With Student Activists on Green New Deal

The Sunrise Movement, which the New York Times notes has held protests and rallies this week aimed at Democrats who have not voiced their support of the Green New Deal, later said they found Feinstein's tone toward the young children to be callous.

The activist group that arranged the visit used a different word to describe the exchange: "condescending".

Because many see the goals as unrealistic, Ocasio-Cortez has been defending the deal on the grounds that, at least she is doing something.

Online reaction to the 2-minute, 20-second video was divided.

This longer video prompted praise from many of her supporters, who feel she handled it well.

The abridged version of the video posted to Twitter Friday evening by the Sunrise Movement quickly went viral, amassing almost 6 million views by Saturday morning. She voted for some of Nazi Trump's cabinet appointments, including billionaire Wilbur Ross, age 81, a lifelong Democrat who changed his party to Republican in November 2016.

When a teen tells Feinstein that she should listen to them, because they are her voters, Feinstein responds by asking the girl how old she is. The local letter carrier also said he saw her only "intermittently" and that her mail to the address sometimes piled up for months before it was collected.

These protests came on the heels of another video that went viral this past weekend of California Democratic Sen.

Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), elected in November, was one of the most outspoken opponents of the new headquarters, but the president/CEO of the group said Monday that Ocasio-Cortez's actions are troubling to many New Yorkers. The ambitious plan would have the USA economy focus on renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuel and coal. The broad statement of ideals includes few details of how that should happen or how it would be paid for.

"It shows that everyday Americans still have the power to organize and fight for their communities and they can have more say in this country than the richest man in the world", Ocasio-Cortez said. All 47 Senate Democrats as well as 13 Republicans would have to support it for the resolution to pass. "Cuz you're not. So, until you do it, I'm the boss.' How about that?'" I know what I'm doing.

For longtime watchers of Feinstein's career, the scene was not a surprise. That's where she gets her energy, her drive.

Young activist one: Senator, if this doesn't get turned around in 10 years you're looking at the faces of the people who are going to be living with the consequences.

Amazon withdrew from the NY deal on February 14 because of opposition from state and local politicians.

Climate change was one of her signature campaign issues. "I have been and remain committed to doing everything I can to enact real, meaningful climate change legislation", Feinstein said.

She told the small group of kids, "I've been doing this for 30 years".
