The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday's drawing stands at $900 million - that's the second largest lottery jackpot in USA history.

With more than 24 hours left until the historic drawing Friday night at 11 p.m., and lottery fever sweeping across the country, there's plenty of time left for the jackpot to eclipse the billion-dollar mark. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million. The amount you will win is likely $0, because the odds of winning either jackpot are one in several hundred million. That's before taxes, of course.

The numbers are 3, 57, 64, 68, 69 and the Powerball is 15.

There were some big winners Wednesday night, though, including one ticket sold in Florida worth $2 million because it matched five numbers and the Power Play.

The next Mega Millions drawing is at 11 p.m. EST Friday.

Every lottery ticket buyer believes that, and why not?

"It really draws in what we call the infrequent player", says Johnson.

The last winners: Powerball on August 11 and Mega Millions on July 24. Michigan Lottery said the majority of tickets for a jackpot are purchased on the day of the drawing.

Lottery sales, defended by state commissions as a way to help fund education and veterans programs, have drawn fire in recent years.
