Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez will miss at least the first two games of the season with an abdominal strain, manager Arsene Wenger has said.
Sanchez, who has less than 12 months left on his deal at the Emirates, has been heavily linked with a move away from north London throughout the summer, with Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester City all earmarked as possible destinations.
On Sanchez and Ozil's final year of contract, Wenger said: "When a player goes into the final year of their contract we will try to extend the contract because there is no reason we shouldn't do it, but we are not there yet".
But, if a PSG come in for the Chilean - and there are rumours that say Neymar and Dani Alves have called Sanchez personally, asking him to come to Paris - Arsenal should just relent and let the player leave, and then spend some quality money on Thomas Lemar and/or Ousmane Dembele. I can take a gamble on one, maybe maximum two, but I focus more on the players who had the right number of competitive minutes in recent weeks. "But all the other players prepared in preseason and are ready", Wenger said.
Putin pokes Georgia in eye with Abkhazia visit on war anniversary
It urged Moscow to cease "provocative actions" and called on the worldwide community to respond to Russia's "aggressive steps". Putin also said Russian Federation would invest 6 billion rubles ($100 million) in the Abkhazian economy by 2019.
Wenger was asked about PSG's interest and said he had not spoken with the club's chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi in "a long time" and he does not expect to hear from him. It can happen in pre-season and anyway, I don't think I would have included him on Friday night. "I think he will not play at Stoke".
Wenger admitted entering the new campaign without Sanchez is a blow for Arsenal as they look to re-establish themselves among the league's elite having missed out on a top-four spot last term.
Asked if the club have received any offers for the Chilean this summer, Wenger replied: "I can't tell you that for the moment. I think he will not play at Stoke, yes", he added.
