At the Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017 in Japan, Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. They have announced Dragon Quest Builders 2, a follow up to the original game that expands upon its strengths and concepts, while also adding a full fledged multiplayer mode into the mix.
Furthermore, Square Enix has also dropped a hint about the young Malroth, who was first seen as an antagonist in "Dragon Quest II". This made sense as Dragon Quest Builders was launched for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. Presently there are no details known on which engine is being used by Dragon Quest Builders 2 but it seems to be altering up the gameplay.
