Trump lashes out at Obama over latest report on Russian election meddling

Trump tweeted: "Just Out: The Obama Administration knew far in advance of November 8th about election meddling by Russian Federation".

Parroting tweets he's sent out the past couple of days, Trump indicated to Hegseth that this was the first time he had heard that President Barack Obama knew about the interference before the election.

At one point during their discussion, the president referenced a bombshell Washington Post story from last week that detailed the Obama administration's response to Russian election interference and just how involved Russian President Vladimir Putin was in the campaign.

The BuzzFeed report about the letters came the same day as a Washington Post report that provided a look inside the Obama administration's response to and decision-making about Russian Federation.

A key congress committee is investigating allegations that Russian Federation and Donald Trump's campaign team collaborated to influence the 2016 U.S. election - claims the White House and Putin have repeatedly denied. "The intelligence captured Putin's specific instructions on the operation's audacious objectives - defeat or at least damage the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, and help elect her opponent, Donald Trump", the Post report says.

"Since the Obama Administration was told way before the 2016 Election that the Russians were meddling, why no action?"

By Saturday afternoon he tweeted again saying to focus on the Obama Administration and not "T".

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said Obama didn't address the matter even though he had received information from the Central Intelligence Agency about Russian interference long before the election.

"We made the judgment that we had ample time after the election, regardless of outcome, for punitive measures", a senior administration official said in the article. Trump asked at 4:28 pm. "They didn't want to hurt Hillary?" "Why didn't they stop them", he tweeted. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., told CNN.

"Nothing like the extensive hacking effort and manipulation effort could occur without involvement", Sen. After each and every briefing, Trump tweeted, gave interviews and even held press conferences stating the contrary, or at the very least blowing such claims off, and never once admitting that Russian Federation was the culprit. Finally, Obama's Department of Homeland Security did not designate state election systems as "critical infrastructure", entitling states to seek federal help with cybersecurity, until early January of this year as well.
