Cleveland - Chauncey Billups once competed against the Cleveland Cavaliers as a player. He could be joining them as an executive. They spoke Thursday to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the talks.
Billups would replace departed general manager David Griffin, who agreed with Gilbert to part ways Monday evening, right as Griffin was crafting potential trades to ship Kevin Love out and land in return either Paul George or Jimmy Butler. Even without Billups, the team is still in good hands. He said that the Killer 3's were the favorite before Chauncey Billups "took that job" referring to the Cleveland Cavaliers' GM opening.
Billups has no previous executive experience, but he does have a long-standing relationship with Gilbert and knows the league well. Billups is also close with Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue, dining with him multiple times during the NBA Finals. However, Irving may become the main star there, as Butler has been reportedly pushing for a trade to get himself onto the Cavs' roster.
With Washington, Frazier could be the primary backup to All-Star point guard John Wall.
The Lakers announced Young's decision Wednesday.
As a player, Billups won a championship and was named the 2004 NBA Finals MVP with teh Detroit Pistons. Young averaged 13.2 points while hitting 40.4 percent of his 3-pointers.

"I am extremely excited for my next challenge in the National Basketball Association, however Dan and I know now that [the Cavs] are a team built on largely on the concept of fit and are now at the point where the fit is not right for us to continue with one another", Griffin said in a statement. "I think our games could help each other out a lot".
When the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association finals, casual fans wondered what piece Cleveland could add to be able to dethrone the champions next year.
Smith is under contract for at least two more seasons, so any departure would be via trade.
