A Powerball ticket sold at a Menifee liquor store successfully matched all six numbers for a $447.8 million jackpot, the California Lottery announced Saturday night.

Saturday's estimated US$447.8-million jackpot, the seventh largest in Powerball history, beat out the US$435.3 million won by a ticket buyer in IN in a Feb 22 drawing, after a late surge in ticket buying. The numbers were: 32-26-20-38-58 Powerball: 3Lottery officials have not identified the victor yet and said they may not know until at least 8 a.m. Monday, which is the soonest the person can claim their prize.

The lump sum payout for the winning ticket would be US$279.1 million.

While $448 million seems like a lot of money, alas, the victor of this weekend's drawing won't walk away with the full amount. Winners have up to 1 year to claim their prize. Both prize amounts would be before taxes are deducted. Lottery officials said the earliest the ticket could be redeemed is 8 a.m. Monday.

"California is one of just three states that exempt lottery winnings from state income taxes-so long as the victor is a state resident who bought the ticket in California", noted Sean Cockerham of the Sacramento Bee in a 2016 report.
