The Philadelphia 76ers began a trend in the 2017 NBA Draft by drafting prolific freshman guard Markelle Fultz.
A year after almost half the draft - a record 27 of the 60 picks - were worldwide players, French guard Frank Ntilikina and Finnish forward Lauri Markkanen, who played a year at Arizona, are two of the top global players.
The Kings' first pick at No. 5 was guard De'Aaron Fox of Kentucky and they selected Zach Collins of Gonzaga at No. 10 with the pick obtained from New Orleans for DeMarcus Cousins.
Known for his all-round offensive ability and athleticism, Fultz starred in his lone year at the University of Washington, averaging 23 points per game, along with more than five rebounds and five assists.
The 76ers had the No. 1 pick for the second straight year after trading with the Boston Celtics on Monday. Forbes reported that Fultz will earn a maximum of $33.7 million on his rookie deal, including more than $15.3 million guaranteed in its first two years.
Fultz says that he's just happy to be part of it.
Both Plum and Fultz are the first No. 1 draft picks in Washington basketball history.

"It was unbelievable, really", said Fultz when asked about the feeling of crossing the stage after being announced as top pick.
The annual draft did not have any huge block buster trades with household names changing uniforms with the exception of Butler moving over to Minnesota from Chicago.
