Trump on Jeh Johnson testimony

Ex-Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson's testimony Wednesday should mark the definitive end of "Russia hacked the election" hysteria. University of MI computer science and engineering professor J. Alex Halderman told the Intelligence Committee Wednesday that he knows America's voting machines are vulnerable, because he and his colleagues have attacked them repeatedly.

Gowdy replied: "Most of the information now available was available in the fall of 2016".

Johnson said that Obama clearly wanted that message out there, but did not want to make it look like he was putting his thumb on the scale for Hillary Clinton. Johnson says he not aware of any information beyond what's been reported publicly and what the US intelligence community has gathered.

Trump has called the Russian Federation probe a "witch hunt" on multiple occasions, but Robert Mueller continues to lead an investigation into whether or not Trump's campaign interfered with the election.

The Russia issue has cast a shadow over President Trump's first five months in office.

In the Senate hearing, Department of Homeland Security and Federal Bureau of Investigation witnesses told lawmakers they expect the Russian cyber-threat against the U.S.to "evolve" - and that governments across the country must try to keep up as well.

He also advised people to focus on the current administration's actions around Russian interference rather than past efforts by the DNC or Obama administration.

During the run up to the vote, Obama Administration cyber-security officials took steps to prepare for widespread voter registration manipulation, fearing Russian Federation might seek to cause chaos at polling places to undermine the credibility of the election. "Why didn't they stop them?"

Four new movies will debut Wednesday, headlined by the newest Transformers movie - " Transformers : The Last Knight ". And then there's Mark Wahlberg's haircut, which has a lot to answer for when considering this film's ultimate worth.

President Trump on Thursday called Russia's meddling in the 2016 election "all a big Dem HOAX" and accused former president Barack Obama and his administration of not doing enough past year to "stop" Russian interference.

40 minutes later, clearly having still been thinking about it, Trump posted another tweet, claiming - again, falsely - Russia's interference in the election is "all a big Dem HOAX!"

"Claims that Russian hackers had some influence on last year's U.S. presidential elections have sparked a wave of scepticism around the safety of electronic voting here in the United Kingdom", said Pete Turner, consumer security expert at Avast, which carried out the survey.

Trump previously said that he thought Russian Federation was behind the attack during a press conference in January before taking office.

Johnson was pressed during Wednesday's hearing about why more was not done to combat Russia's meddling efforts. "Why was that course rejected?" asked Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee.

JEH JOHNSON: In retrospect, it would be easy for me to say that I should have brought a sleeping bag and camped out in front of the DNC in late-summer.

Trump has long raised doubts about whether Russian Federation was behind the hacking, something most Republicans and the entire intelligence community has determined. "The only person who disputes this is Donald Trump, who has shown zero interest in protecting our country from future attacks and is now trying to distract Americans from his devastating healthcare repeal".

However, Johnson didn't say that in testimony Wednesday before the House intelligence committee; Johnson said was he wasn't aware of efforts by Trump or his campaign to collude with Russian Federation beyond what the intelligence community already knows.
