Juan Carlos Osorio's Mexico sit top of Group A, level on four points with Portugal but having scored a goal more, though they know that status will be under threat, given the European champions face bottom side New Zealand on the same day.

Later on Wednesday, Mexico needed second-half goals by Benfica's Jimenez and Peralta to grab victory over New Zealand in a bad-tempered match at Sochi.

But Raul Jimenez's third goal in his last four internationals brought Osorio's men back on level terms after the break and Peralta's victor ensured El Tri secured victory despite star striker Javier Hernandez remaining on the substitutes' bench.

Oribe Peralta scored a dramatic victor as Mexico came from behind to defeat New Zealand 2-1 in Sochi and move top of Confederations Cup Group A.

"It was intense, it was competitive", New Zealand coach Anthony Hudson said after the game, which was settled by Oribe Peralta's 72nd-minute strike for Mexico.

That's all to say that though Mexico are certainly big favourites, they certainly shouldn't underestimate their opponents. "So I would imagine that's part of (the incident)".

Former German chancellor Kohl dies at 87
He entrenched Germany in a wider Europe, in the hope of achieving a unity and peace that the continent had never known before. In 2001, the case was closed, and the former chancellor paid a fine of 300 thousand German marks (142,000$).

Despite the off-field disruption, Ronaldo picked up the man-of-the-match award in Portugal's opening 2-2 draw with Mexico on Sunday.

Juan Carlos Osorio's side now just need a draw against Russian Federation in Kazan on Saturday to be sure of reaching the semifinals, but New Zealand are bottom of the group and out of the tournament.

Leeds striker, Chris Wood who was played through on goal struck a powerful shot that beat Alfredo Talavera in goal for Mexico. "Our players and myself were shouting at them and the New Zealand coach to stop the match". The game was really rough and violent. "That's unacceptable and why I lost my temper", he said.

"I was happy to have scored, but sad about the result", said Quaresma.

"It's true that the camera shows some things I said but [New Zealand's] assistant coach is responsible for what happened".

The switch proved effective, with the New Zealanders relying on a creative, pass-based style rather than the long balls to Wood which had predominated in St Petersburg.
