At the State Opening of Parliament, the Queen's Speech, which is prepared by the government of the day and read out by the 91-year-old monarch, laid out the legislative priorities for parliamentary proceedings.

In his final attack Mr Corbyn said: 'This is a Government without a majority, without a mandate, without a serious legislative programme, led by a Prime Minister who has lost her political authority and is struggling to stitch together a deal with the DUP to stay in office.

But the plan spectacularly backfired, leaving her with a minority government that is now trying to form a majority with Northern Ireland's ultra-conservative Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).

No mention of Donald Trump's state visit, leading to speculation it is now indefinitely postponed.

The omission follows media reports that Trump no longer wants to come because of British public opposition to the visit, after a petition to cancel it received more than 1.8 million signatures.

"You have to keep him".

"That was a failure of the state, local, and national, to help people when they needed it most", she said, according to The Guardian.

The Queen's Speech will be debated over the next few days before it's put to a vote, expected next Thursday.

In a United Kingdom roiled by surprising election results, terrorist attacks and the fallout from a deadly tower blaze, the Queen's Speech offered a concrete road map of the next two years under diminished Conservative leadership. The Government says it wasn't mentioned only because a date hasn't been set.

A briefing document issued alongside the speech said the government would consult more closely with businesses and other interested parties to "test and validate positions and to continue to build support from the business community as we move forward".

He welcomed the exclusion of certain Conservative manifesto pledges from the speech, including grammar schools, scrapping means-testing the winter fuel allowance, and ending the triple-lock for pensions.

The speech took place as Prince Philip was hospitalised over an infection late on Tuesday night.

The Queen's Speech lacked the usual level of pomp and pageantry, with the Queen ditching her traditional red velvet Robe of State and crown for a blue day dress and hat, and swapping her horse-drawn carriage for a vehicle.

"Politicians are always very reluctant to kill manifesto commitments stone dead, especially just after an election, and this is true even though the government's grip on power has been weakened", said Mr Hillman.

The Lib Dems said their version would call for continued membership of the EU single market and customs union after Brexit.
