F1 calendar 2018: 'Triple-header' revealed for next year, two famous tracks return

The French Grand Prix returns to the Formula One calendar in 2018 after a decade-long absence at Le Castellet's Paul Ricard circuit near Marseille, motorsport's governing body the FIA confirmed on Monday.

Management admit every man and his dog want to host a race. The event has become one of the best known global sports competitions in the city along with ATP Rolex Masters, IAAF Diamond League, etc. "The reason is the contracts were up this year, so we're negotiating new agreements, so those agreements aren't completed", he explained.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has been moved from June to April, while the Russian event switches to a September date that is one week before the race in Suzuka, Japan.

As usual, the season will get underway with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 25, ending exactly 8 months later in Abu Dhabi in November.

The French and German Grands Prix will return to F1 in 2018.

"The process has to be a deliberate one to carefully consider the terms and benefits".
