THE Spanish tax authorities have announced that Jose Mourinho is under investigation for tax fraud while he was manager of Real Madrid.
The latter's future at Real Madrid is up in the air after he told the club he wanted to leave this summer.
According to reports, the Portuguese tactician committed two offences in 2011 and 2012, totaling to around €3.3m (about £2.91m).
They claim that Mourinho, who took over at United a year ago, failed to declare 3.3 million euros ($3.7m, £2.9m) during his time in the Spanish capital - 1.6 million euros in 2011 and 1.7 million euros in 2012.
Ronaldo's agency, Gestifute, released a statement after the accusations, saying "it is clear that the player did not try to evade taxes" and there was "no offshore structure for evading taxes".
The statement said that the Spanish government, through tax authorities, "issued a certificate in which it attested that he had regularized his position and was in compliance with all his tax obligations".
