Suzanne Hodgkinson, the wife of a gunman who shot and wounded a top Republican congressman and several others, said her husband went to Washington, D.C. because he wanted to work on tax policy.
Hodgkinson was shot by Capitol Police on the scene after allegedly opening fire and wounded Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., and three others.
Four others were also injured in the shooting, including two Capitol Police officers - Griner and David Bailey - staffer Zachary Barth and lobbyist Matt Mika.
Posts from previous year show he was adamantly opposed to Clinton, and, after the election, to President Donald Trump.
The FBI said it had recovered and was attempting to trace two weapons, a rifle and a handgun, and was actively investigating Hodgkinson's "associates, whereabouts, social media impressions, and potential motivations".
Rep. Franks says, "I have been notified there is an investigation I might be involved in".
According to his Facebook page, Hodgkinson was a fervent supporter of Sanders, the feisty independent who nearly defeated Hillary Clinton a year ago in a tough fight for the Democratic White House nomination.
Hodgkinson died from his injuries in a shootout with police.
"I just don't know what to tell you people", she told reporters. Fellow YMCA patrons saw him there most mornings working on his laptop.

The usual menu of retaliatory measures against North Korea include sanctions that target its businesses and officials. Warmbier, who was imprisoned in North Korea for 17 months before being returned home in a coma less than a week ago.
Once Trump won the election, Hodgkinson continued his protests, moving to Washington D.C, where he lived out of his vehicle so he could continue the fight, ABC New reports.
He belonged to several anti-GOP Facebook groups, including one called "Terminate the Republican Party".
Hodgkinson was shot by law enforcement officers after opening fire at the early morning practice of a Republican baseball team.
"Something about this guy rubbed ne the wrong way when I was purchasing a home after moving here from Mexico", the reviewer said.
"I don't want to answer these questions about his politics", she said.
There was no warning that there would be any violence, she said.
After the shooting, members of Congress told reporters they viewed the incident as a unsafe and unsettling development.
Hodgkinson said she only learned of the shooting and her husband's involvement when a reporter called to ask her about the events. "Nothing I can really put my finger on, but he was just not a pleasant person".
Throughout the day, Alexandria residents who had had chance encounters with him continued to look back on them.
