Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Allocation Plan Encourages Dealers To Sell At MSRP

To be eligible, FCA says dealers must have sold two or more Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcats - SRT's 707-hp erstwhile overlord - in the past 12 months.

Most important, Dodge will penalize any orders that are marked above MSRP. The company made a personalization system for ordered cars to attempt to discourage dealers, but the plan FCA announced Tuesday said Dodge will take some additional, stranger approaches to discouraging markups. Unlike most enthusiast-focused cars, which suffer sometimes shocking dealer price-gouging, the Demon may well be actually sold at its MSRP. Dealerships will still only be allowed to order as many Demons as they've been allocated, with that figure based on previous success at shifting other high-powered SRT cars.

The Demon is the first-ever production vehicle to do a front-wheel lift, as certified by Guinness World Records, and it's the world's fastest quarter-mile production auto with an elapsed time of 9.65 seconds at 140 miles per hour (225 km/h), as certified by National Hot Rod Assn.

With FCA US's Dodge Challenger SRT Demon going on sale this fall, the automaker announces its plan for how the 840-hp muscle auto will be allocated to its dealers.

It also registers the highest g-force (1.8 g) ever recorded at launch in a production vehicle, according to Fiat Chrysler.

In case you missed it, the 2018 Dodge Demon will hit showrooms with a sticker price of $84,995.

Any Demon sold at, or below, MSRP will get "priority scheduling" Dodge has confirmed today.

In addition to the concierge line, Dodge is also setting up a website for Demon buyers to track their car's production process. Before each Demon goes into production, the Demon Concierge requires a notarized acknowledgement document signed by the dealer and the customer as well. The document must be received by the Demon Concierge before the vehicle will be slated for production.

From muscle cars to minivans, crossovers and full-size SUVs, the Dodge brand's full lineup of 2017 models deliver best-in-class horsepower, class-exclusive technology, unmatched capability and a slew of cool features, such as LED headlamps, Dodge signature racetrack tail lamps, active exhaust, cold-air induction, 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect infotainment centers and 7-inch customizable gauge clusters, to name a few.

Dealers can start placing orders for the Demon on June 21.

FCA will distribute 3,000 Demons to US dealers and 300 to Canadian dealers.
