Twice. That was it. His performance was anything but. But he struggled in the final two rounds.

Fleetwood enjoyed a better back nine, picking up a birdie on the par-five 14th and making par on the last four holes, but by then Koepka was out of sight.

When Brooks Koepka made his par putt on the 18th hole Sunday at Erin Hills Country Club in Wisconsin, he became the seventh new major victor in as many events.

"That's probably the most emotion I've ever showed coming down the stretch", Koepka said following his win. "One of them was me and I said, 'Dad, that's weird!' I guess I'll have to get used to being in the spotlight there now".

Koepka shot a 67 on his winning round.

For all of Koepka's magnificence on the golf course this weekend, its tough to believe that golf isn't even his favorite sport.

The margin of victory was four strokes and the winning total was 16 under, equaling the lowest score in relation to par in U.S. Open history.

Koepka is also a skilled baseball and basketball player, he embodies the new style of golfers looking more like athletes. But he's been close a lot.

1 Koepka started playing golf when he was 10 years old following a vehicle crash that left him with facial injuries and meant he was banned from playing contact sports. Koepka and Johnson even train and hang out together.

Koepka's name will be etched on the trophy alongside that of his good friend Johnson, who missed the cut at Erin Hills but spoke to Koepka after Saturday's third round.

"It was a long phone call". "It was like two minutes, it wasn't much".

Indian Occupied Kashmir celebrates Pakistan's victory against India
Large processions of youths were witnessed in many parts of the city here and elsewhere in the Valley. The celebrations were also held in Uri town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

"To get to travel the world at 22, 21 years old, and do what you do for a living is pretty neat", Koepka said. In the group ahead leader Brooks Koepka didn't slip up. He was tied with Harman.

The only black on the board through 18 holes were the names.

Koepka then turned the screw with a nerveless trio of birdies to seize the crown. "I felt so confident".

Koepka was tied with Paul Casey after the second round. But a brilliant sand shot put the ball to about four feet for birdie. "And I just couldn't stand the fact that I'd only won once". He had a two-shot lead over Matsuyama, who was in the clubhouse.

True to form, Harman didn't wither away Sunday. Scheffler finished ahead of Texas A&M's Cameron Champ, who entered Sunday's final round with a two-shot lead over Scheffler, shot a 4-over 76 to finish at 288. He parred them both.

"I've never contended for a Major before, so when you get to Saturday and Sunday you've got to see how you react and how you feel", said the Englishman, who followed up his third-round 68 with a 72. It had to be, especially with the wind.

"A bunch of people told me that and I felt like I really stayed patient all week". "I think that's good enough for my career as the first time".

He bogeyed the 12th and 13th holes. "Just came up a little short". So it was pretty cool to get that, and to play well today (Sunday) on top of it was extra special.

Matsuyama had the round of the day, a six-under 66.

He birdied two of the next three holes following his bogeys on Nos. He had three previous top-five finishes in major tournaments. Wish him well and congratulate him. He posted a 66 to move to 12 under par, and that left him one stroke behind Koepka at the time he finished his round.

Koepka won't be anonymous. But his resume will be looking a whole lot better than this year.
