Erin Hills claims each of world's top three golfers

Johnson won by one, though maybe Fleetwood's most memorable moment there, for better or worse, was the embarrassingly bad high-five he shared with his caddie after draining a long birdie putt to pull within one. There were five players in double digits Saturday at Erin Hills.

"Not every day you enjoy a round of golf with an 8 on the card, but I'm a pretty happy man", Casey said, per Doug Ferguson of the Associated Press (via the Toronto Star). "Yeah, it was a bit of a roller coaster". "I got off to a great start yesterday - I birdied the first hole".

Jason Day's tournament was in his words, "frustrating". "I was out of it. trying to stay out of the way of Rory".

"It's going to be a really cool day for someone tomorrow", Fowler said.

Overnight leader Rickie Fowler had people watching on the edge of their seats on Friday, but appeared to play far too conservatively.

Despite having a huge power advantage over most of the field, and displaying excellent form with his irons, Koepka was unable to capitalise on a few good birdie chances. That still didn't appear to be almost enough. He made four birdies over the last six holes to salvage a 71, but he still missed the cut for the second straight year.

McIlroy won the US Open with a record 16-under-par total in 2011, but was a combined 50 over par for his seven other appearances before this week and missed the cut at Oakmont past year following rounds of 77 and 71. Johnson capped off this collective failure with a late collapse on the back nine at Erin Hills, making three bogeys over a five-hole stretch and closing with 73 that left him 4 over. McIlroy has been out for six weeks because of a recurring rib injury that caused him to miss two months at the start of the year.

Trump pal says president is 'considering' firing Robert Mueller
He seems unlikely to carry out such a travesty of justice, only to go down in historical disgrace as Trump's Robert Bork. That leaves deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein , who appointed Mueller in the first place.

Rory McIlroy at least had the satisfaction of four birdies in his last six holes to improve by seven shots on his opening 78, while Jason Day's 75 left him 10 over and world number one and defending champion Dustin Johnson finished four over.

McIlroy is back to even-par for the round after bogeying the first three holes on the front nine. Fowler's streak ended at 28 holes, however, when he went just long on the 11th hole and had to chip sideways to have any chance of a reasonable par putt.

"I've got a busy summer, so I'm excited to play a lot of golf". "Even just trying to take my medicine was very, very hard".

KEY STATISTIC: The cut, at 1 over, tied a U.S. Open record set in 1990 at Medinah. Even as the course slowly recovered from rain early in the week, reasonable scores were available. McIlroy chalked his poor play up to rust and lack of competitive rounds. When the afternoon wave began, it was at 1 over with a possibility of going to 2 over, depending on the wind.

Day and McIlroy were left feeling pretty empty, as each had arrived to Wisconsin nearly a week ago with high expectations. If that ends up being the case, Fowler has the talent and drive to make it happen. Day had no answers.

Of course, there are so many other strong players on this crammed leaderboard, from Matsuyama to Louis Oosthuizen to J.B. Holmes (and more), it's hard to say exactly how the U.S. Open will shake out. "Unfortunately this didn't pan out".
