In Washington, the United States missile defense chief, Vice Admiral James Syring, told a congressional hearing on Wednesday that North Korea's missile program was a cause of "great concern".
This puts the US state of Alaska within range, and Washington is concerned by what it considers the clear and realistic threat posed by North Korea.
There has been no comment from North Korea, or reports in its state media, about the latest cases.

But, the more tests the Hermit Kingdom conducts, the greater the chance North Korea has of successfully launching one-with a nuclear warhead.
"The only thing North Korea will earn through provocations is worldwide isolation and economic hardship, and it will lose opportunities for development", Mr Moon said at a meeting of the National Security Council yesterday, according to Blue House spokesman Park Soo Hyun.
In April, a top North Korean official told the BBC that the country will continue to test missiles despite worldwide condemnation and growing military tensions with the US and its allies, including Japan.
The new cruise rocket is "a powerful attack means capable of striking any enemy group of battleships attempting a military attack on the DPRK from the ground at will", KCNA said.
The missiles "accurately detected and hit the floating targets on the East Sea of Korea", it reported. It also could raise concerns about United States efforts to present a tough, unified position with Japan and South Korea against the North.

"We believe North Korea has demonstrated its anti-denial deterrence capabilities in response to the joint military exercise in the East Sea [Sea of Japan]", where USS Carl Vinson and Ronald Reagan participated in a joint exercise last month, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff Spokesperson Col. Roh Jae-cheon said in a briefing.
In particular, the Pongae-5 combined with the new Kumsong-3 would enable North Korea to implement an anti-access/area denial posture in wartime, denying littoral space to USA and South Korean naval assets.
In Washington, the US missile defense chief voiced concerns about the pace of development in the North's missile program. The two other fishermen, who wanted to return home, were repatriated on Friday.
Pyongyang often accuses Seoul of kidnapping its citizens or enticing them to defect to the South.
