Tom Brady and Michael Jordan have served as honorary captains for Michigan's football team, and Usher will do so this season.

Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh announced Saturday that he has extended invitations to the Obamas to serve as honorary football captains in 2017.

Coach Harbaugh was able to spend time with the Obamas earlier this week in his visit to Washington, D.C. His relationship with the Obamas extends back to working with Michelle Obama on different education initiatives.

And last week, while Harbaugh was in Washington to speak on behalf of the Legal Services Corporation about legal aid for the underprivileged, he and his son Jay met with the former president. It's a company that advocates easier access to legal representation.

In an interview on Friday, she sidestepped questions on whether she had misread the public mood. Britain's Press Association reported that some 70 people are still missing after the fire.

Harbaugh told reporters Saturday that the team voted for London, Paris and Normandy, France, for next year's trip.

"We took a straw poll", Harbaugh said.

Is Jim Harbaugh really interested in making Michelle and Barack Obama honorary MI football captains or is there a message that goes along with this thought? "There'd been, 'Hey we'd like you to do it?' Now the official ask".

"It was incredible", Harbaugh said of the meeting. "We had 39 wonderful minutes with President Obama, saw Mrs. Obama as well". Then again, Harbaugh's magic has worked on big names before, so we shouldn't be surprised if a former president with no ties to Ann Arbor ends up at the 50-yard line of Michigan Stadium next fall. "He shared a lot of insights". For one, I'm hoping the season finale against Ohio State.
