Everton reportedly agree personal terms with Ajax captain Davy Klaassen ahead of the Dutch international's proposed £26m move to Merseyside.

The 24-year-old Netherlands global was a key player for Ajax in the previous campaign and he scored 14 goals from 33 Eredivisie appearances, helping the club finish second in the table, missing out on the title by one point from Feyenoord.

It was reported that a fee had been agreed between Everton and AC Milan this morning after talks on Wednesday.

"I spoke a few weeks ago with Ronald Koeman about Everton". It's a great club, ' he told Everton TV.

Just hours after completing a club-record £30m deal to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, the Toffees are set to bolster their attacking options in the coming days.

'The moment that I spoke with the manager directly I got a good feeling.

'I talked to him about the Club and everything we want to achieve and he was really positive.

"He's a player who is only 24 but has a lot of experience and is a leader on the pitch".

Klaassen is Ajax's captain and was a key man for the Amsterdam side in the recently concluded season.

Ronald Koeman added, "I'm delighted we've been able to bring Davy to Everton".

The midfielder has been with Ajax since the age of 11, coming through the ranks at the club and going on to make nearly 200 appearances for the senior side.
