Stella Schnabel, daughter of painter Julian Schnabel, reported her death on Instagram. The cause of death is now unknown. "And with Anita, you knew you were taking on a valkyrie - she who decides who dies in battle", Richards wrote in Life, his 2010 autobiography. No one has ever understood me so well. "You showed about life and myself and how to grow and become and exist with it all", she captioned a black-and-white photo of them. Fellow Stones-adjacent singer Marianne Faithfull credited Pallenberg with transforming the band from well-liked rockers into cultural heroes, writing in her 1994 biography, "She nearly single-handedly engineered a cultural revolution in London by bringing together the Stones and the jeunesse dorée..."

She was also alleged to have had an affair with Sir Mick Jagger while they were making 1970 film Performance, though she always denied it.
Years later, Pallenberg portrayed a character named Sin in Abel Ferrara's Go Go Tales (2007), a Queen Elizabeth impersonator in Harmony Korine's Mister Lonely (2007) and an opium-den hostess in Stephen Frears' Cheri (2009).
She and Richards split up in 1980. Pallenberg was longtime girlfriend of the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards and dated the bands' guitarist Brian Jones previously. However, their relationship was tumultuous and the duo chose to split in 1980.

Richards wasn't the only member of the Rolling Stones that Pallenberg took an interest in at one point or another. At the same time, there is an underlying love that goes beyond all of that other stuff.
