Remy first announced the news via his official Twitter account Monday afternoon.

Remy will continue working Red Sox games until he is forced to leave the booth to receive treatment.

Longtime Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy is reportedly battling cancer again.

"Look, I've been through a lot, for a long period of time". "It has not spread". According to The Boston Globe, he will have surgery to remove a small piece of his lung after the Red Sox's next road trip, which ends June 21. "They'll be a recovery time after surgery". The cancer most recently returned early this year and Remy was treated and cleared to travel and call games beginning in Spring Training.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions to testify in public on Tuesday
Sessions was scheduled to testify before the Judiciary Committee tomorrow - about the Department of Justice budget. But he says the president "believes that the sooner we can get this addressed and dealt with" the better.

The former Red Sox second baseman known on broadcasts as "RemDawg" said the cancer was detected during his regular three-month exam. It is what it is, I'll deal with it, but my message to people at home is if you don't go to your doctor, you don't have much of a chance to find out. He was a Boston infielder for seven seasons and is a member of the team's Hall of Fame.

Remy, who originally fought cancer in 2008, has endured a number of relapses since. He said baseball has kept him busy as he's gone through treatments each time, and that each brings a new challenge. "I've been fortunate to have this caught five times-and early-so it hasn't been that bad".

"I've had enough. But the fact is, other people can avoid it, and I'd really like to see them try to do that". It wears you down.
